Scott Kroll brings his own brand of romantic humor to Speculative Relationships with "This Thing Called Love". A mechanic’s day is transformed when the boss assigns him to repairing a special someone’s mech suit.

Scott Kroll is new to the Chicago comics scene, but has shown a fire for comics that is unquenchable.  His comics are rich with science-fiction fueled ideas, while featuring humor inspired by every day life.  Scott’s comic A Cramped, Well-Pressurized Space was awarded honorable mention in the Comics Workbook Composition Competition. See more of Scott’s work here:

Speculative Relationships is a science fiction romance comics anthology, featuring exciting up-and-coming comic artists.  Watch this space for more information on the upcoming Kickstarter, and follow us on twitter: @scifiromancecom

Not only is Scott Kroll my co-editor/partner in crime, but he’s contributing this awesome story to the Speculative Relationships anthology.  It’s a unique ‘meet-cute’ story and it has MECHS! What else could you ask for?

Tyrell says the nicest things. Now, exchuse me while I go stoke my unquenchable fire!!

Back From S.P.A.C.E. (Also, the Billy Ireland Museum)

My pal Tyrell Cannon and I took a road trip to Columbus, OH this weekend for the Small Press and Comics Expo (S.P.A.C.E.).

We made a point to get down there on Friday so we see the Calvin and Hobbes exhibit at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum. I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by the exhibit like I was. Seeing all those original Bill Watterson drawings was breathtaking.

These pictures don’t do it justice. Seriously.

Anyway, This trip was planned by Tyrell. He was kind enough to invite me along and share his table.

That’s Nick Pendleton in the back ground. You should totally check out his comic Feral Boy & Gilgamesh

Traffic was pretty slow, but I meet a lot of really cool people. I did a ton of trading. Here’s my haul:

Also, Nate Powell had a display of pages from March: Book 2, which looks pretty awesome.

There was also a Saturday night Karaoke at a combination bar/ Bookstore. I made an ass of myself singing “Burning Down the House”, but I managed to spot this on the shelf:

I’ve been looking for this book for a while, so it was a pleasant surprise (and cheap!).

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and all the other comic creators who made this a fun time.

This is basically how I dress everyday at work. Also, I drink a lot of coffee.
